Parliamentary Privilege

Parliamentary privilege: What is it? What does it cover? Where can you find out about it? This seminar offers a guide to parliamentary privilege, its origin and scope. It will also highlight some recent examples of how the parliament and the courts have dealt with parliamentary privilege.

Carren Walker has worked in and around the South Australian Parliament for 15 years. She started her career as a legal and policy advisor to Independent Members of Parliament in the Legislative Council. She has been a Research Officer for the Legislative Review Committee of the Legislative Council and the Occupational Safety and Rehabilitation Committee of the House of Assembly, and is currently a legislative drafter in the Office of Parliamentary Counsel.
